Endowed with significant names they can be set apart from other landscapes for their beauty.
Rocky Glenaan is the site of the legendary Ossian's grave. Close by Glencorp - the glen of the slaughtered. Glenarm, an ‘area of Special Scientific Interest’, to ensure its natural resources and wildness are protected. The Castle at Glenarm, is the family home of the Earl of Antrim. “Queen of the Glens”-Glenariff is a remarkable sight with steep gorges and waterfalls, Glencloy is known as glen of the hedges, with the village of Carnlough at its foot. Glenballyemon, the centre of the nine glens, is at the foot of the local village Cushendall, adjacent to Glendun- the glen of the auburn river. Next is Glenshesk which sweeps towards the ruins of historical Bonamargy friary.
Lastly is Glentaisie, named after 'Taisie', princess of Rathlin Island.
